Introduction
The problem of the infectious diseases dissemination and the necessity to fight it is a part of the issues included into the G8 agenda. The G8 leaders came to understanding that their prosperity depends directly on another countries’ development and well-being. The assistance to these countries is or course a very important part of the sustainable development constituent.
This issue was discussed by G8 in 1987 in Venice and in 1989 in Paris. In 1990s this obtained further development. It was discussed in 1996 in Lyon and in 1997 in Denver, where the resulting documents fixed the threat of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as global threat to the mankind. To begin with 2000, the infectious diseases became a permanent G8 agenda issue. We witnessed many initiatives of G8 aimed at fighting infectious diseases.
The G8 leaders pay a special attention to the supporting leading international structures fighting infectious diseases – WHO, UNAIDS etc.- as well as to the search of new mechanisms of international efforts coordination. Despite this, the international community can’t affirm that the infectious diseases are under the strict control and all countries can guarantee their citizens’ equal access to the high-quality prophylaxis, diagnostics and treatment.
