G8 finance ministers to talk poor-nation energy access June 9-10


MOSCOW, June 6 (RIA Novosti) - Finance ministers from the Group of Eight industrialized nations will discuss access for the world's poorest countries to energy infrastructure at a meeting starting Friday, Russia's finance minister said Tuesday.

Alexei Kudrin said the fight against infectious diseases and terrorism financing, as well as energy security, public finance management and financial literacy, would also be touched upon at the two-day meeting in St. Petersburg.

Representatives of China, India, Brazil, Australia, South Korea and Nigeria - countries outside the G8 - will also participate in the meeting to discuss public finance management and donorship.

The finance minister of Austria, which holds the rotating six-month chair of the European Union, as well as officials from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, will also attend the meeting.
