Business community should be involved into the education process


At the “Round table” meeting of the Business and Education cooperation project team, St Petersburg, the Russian Industry Entrepreneur Union President, Alexander Shokhin said that business community should be involved in the education process organization.
He believes that some of the primary and secondary special education institutions should be under the jurisdiction of large corporations: “Primary and secondary education can be successfully promoted by the large corporations”
He also suggested that business-structures should be co-founders of the specialized education institutions. He says: “This kind of participation would allow business not only give money but also participate in the management of the institution”.
According to Shokhin, today’s jurisdiction does not allow business control the ways they spend money donated by sponsors.
Besides Shokhin believes that business representatives should be able to submit their demands to the education system and carry out the education institutions monitoring.
He also pointed out that the importance of the education credits. Shokhin thinks that this system should develop with the government support , in particular, through its grants.
He mentioned that the present day annual percentage rate of the education loan comes to 15-18% “It is as much as in the case of the ordinary consumer loan”, - he concluded.
