According to the Russian President Assistant Igor Shuvalov, Russia suggests that everyone of G8 countries should create special groups responsible for emergency situations. He made this statement at the international conference “Transitional Economies in the Postindustrial World: Current Decade Challenges”.
According to I.Shuvalov, by doing this many countries could liquidate operatively the consequences of such emergency situations as tsunami.
He added that Russia like other G8 states is ready to invest into working on vaccines aimed at fighting most widespread diseases, particularly, AIDS. The fighting infectious diseases has a vital importance for the economy. Today we witness the enormous threat of the bird flu for the economy and it is very important that this epidemic shouldn’t develop into pandemic.
Igor Shuvalov said also that one more priority to discuss at the F8 summit in St Petersburg would be education issues. He said Russia would suggest a system of education taking into account both interests of the educational community and employers.
According to Igor Shuvalov, the 2006 G8 summit agenda responds not only to the interests of G8 states, but to all countries all over the world.
