Universities of G8 states, China to pool research effort in energy security

MOSCOW, March 30 (Itar-Tass) -- The leading universities of the G8 states and China will pool research efforts in energy security, the fight with infectious diseases and their aftermath, as well as the aftermath of globalization, Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy said at a meeting of the universities of the G8 states and China that opened on Thursday.
“The quality of education is based on the integration of science and education,” he emphasized. “We should pool our research efforts and work on the innovative directions and the problems that cause concerns to the whole world now,” Sadovnichy pointed out.
“The role of universities is growing all over the world in the twenty-first century, therefore the quality of education and its international level are primarily put on the agenda now,” the rector of Moscow State University remarked.
President of Beijing University Xu Zhihong noted that “the role of international cooperation in education is growing significantly now.” “Universities should not only unite, but also meet the requirements of the international labor market,” he indicated.
The first meeting of the presidents of the most well-known universities from the G8 states and China is held in the major library – an intellectual center of Moscow State University. The presidents of French, US, Chinese, German and many other universities gathered for the meeting.
