MOSCOW, March 30 (Itar-Tass) The leading officials of prominent universities of G8 countries meet here on Thursday. Russia is represented by Moscow State University (MGU) named after M.V. Lomonosov. The MGU is the organiser of the meeting.
An official in the MGU Rector's Office has told Itar-Tass, "The meeting's agenda and the main subjects for discussion are kept secret so far".
The meeting will take place in the MGU's Fundamental Library-and-Intellectual Center. "It was not fortuitous that the Center was chosen as the venue, for this Center is up to all international standards and is fitted out with new technologies," an MGU press service official has pointed out.
The rectors of Jena and Beijing Universities, the principal of Tokai University, as well as leading officials of universities from Italy, Canada, and the United States are to discuss matters of current importance concerning the development of education in the 21st century.
The MGU press service official added that the meeting is to result in "the elaboration of proposals that will constitute the basis for further international cooperation in the field of education".
