OTTAWA, April 11 (Itar-Tass) - Russia’s G8 Sherpa Igor Shuvalov has met here with Canadian G8 Sherpa Peter Harder, as well as with representatives of Canadian business circles and nongovernmental organizations to discuss Russia’s priorities at the upcoming G8 summit in St. Petersburg.
Russia’s priorities at the summit it hosts in July are energy security, fight against infectious diseases and education. Shuvalov, who is Russian president’s aide, met with Canadian businessmen whose interests are concentrated in the energy sector, including gas and oil production, power industry and atomic industry.
Round-table discussions with activists from Canadian nongovernmental organizations were organized as a video link, in which nongovernmental organizations from the capital, as well as from Montreal, Toronto and Calgary participated.
Talks in Canada have demonstrated that the stances of the two countries as concerns the agenda of the St. Petersburg summit coincide.
