MOSCOW. Russia has compiled its first control list of foreign organisations suspected of involvement in military programmes, nuclear and chemical production and missile building, said Sergei Ivanov, Russian Defence Minister and Deputy Prime Minister. According to him, the list is based on Russian Foreign Ministry records, intelligence data and information exchange with the world’s leading countries in non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
Mr Ivanov said the list included 1,152 organisations from 51 countries. “These are not black lists; this is a list of foreign organisations that should be dealt with special caution as partners,” the vice-premier said.
He said the list would serve as the basis for a planned open report on WMD non-proliferation for the 2006 G8 summit. Sergei Ivanov said the report would present Russia’s views on the export control system and a review of some foreign organisations and countries’ actions against this serious threat.
