WMF is preoccupied with the possibility of the bird’s flu pandemic. It was mentioned in the published WMF report on the possible consequences for the world economy and finance system in the case of the bird’s flu spreading, INTAR TASS reports.
Fund experts stress “the high uncertainty level” when forecasting risks, connected with the dangerous for human beings virus H5H1, as no cases of person to person virus trnasmission have been registered.
The reports says the pandemic will influence financial institutions and organizations just by the absence of the personnel due to the disease. It may cause “breaks in transportation, trade, payment system, municipal economy, some vulnerable organizations can come to bankruptcy”, the paper reports. The WMF experts do not exclude the possibility of the high interest in cash and the investment decrease.
“It becomes the main task of the world organizations, including WMF, to help to prepare to the bird’s flu pandemic”.
Answering the ITAR TASS questions, the WMF representative pointed it out that the Finance ministers from the G8 countries have already mentioned the risk of the pandemic in the paper that was adopted in Moscow, as well as its possible economic and financial consequences. “No doubt, we will continue giving information on our efforts at all of the World Forums”, the WMF representative concluded.
