Student exchanges between G8 universities to double by 2010

MOSCOW, March 30 (Itar-Tass) —— The international exchanges of students between the universities from the G8 states will double by 2010, Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy said at a meeting of the leading universities from the G8 states and China on Thursday. “For this we should pool our efforts and offer the state to assign necessary resources for these purposes,” he emphasized.
“The exchange of students will help us to share experience, improve our education and familiarize with new technologies in the higher education,” Sadovnichy pointed out.
President of the French Pierre-et-Marie Curie University Gilbert Bereziat noted that “it is needed to create an international network of universities.” “The leading universities from the G8 states and China should be incorporated in it,” he remarked. “The main tasks of this union will be to educate qualified professors, work out common standards of quality and share experience.”
“Common curricula, programmes and educational tendencies for this union should be created,” Sadovnichy added.
