Poliomyelitis is a very high pathogenic infectious disease striking the nervous system and leading to very serious consequences as the hard invalidity due to the paralysis. The children under 5 years are mostly the subject to this disease. There is no radical remedy to fight the poliomyelitis, but the timely vaccination allows to guarantee the lifelong immunity.
In spite of the fact that due to the immunization the poliomyelitis morbidity has in general decreased, we still have very attentive. Every infected person should be urgently hospitalized and isolated. One should avoid all possible contacts with a person supposed to be infected.
The fighting poliomyelitis is a very serious problem and represent today one of the most important global tasks declared by the World Health Organization for all countries all over the World – both developed and developing. Its solution has not only specific medical, but also economic and political nature.
