The NGOs representatives presented the recommendations elaborated within the March Forum to the Sherpas. They focused at the necessity of implementing the obligations declared by the G8 governments before.

Sherpas expressed their opinions on the whole range of G8 issues, answered the NGOs questions. All the participants with no exception participated in the discussion that lasted more than two hours.

The second day the participants visited Kazan, where several meetings with regional NGOs within the framework of ‘Civil G8 – 2006” were planned. The first meeting was aimed at discussing civil society issues with Tatarstan colleagues. The representatives of friendship societies, Orthodox, Muslim and Judaic faiths, several diasporas – Chechen, Tajik, Kazakh, Georgian, Assyrian, other representatives of Russia and CIS nationalities attended the meeting.

The discussion of the civil society issues continued at the office of the Head of Tatarstan State Council R.Mukhametshin. The discussion was satiated with facts illustrating the multicultural and multinational nature of the republic today’s life. The participants have also discussed the ways of solving existing problems and the possibility to continue the discussion during the International Forum “Civil G8 – 2006” which will be held in Moscow in July 3-4, on the eve of the G8 summit.
The Kazan program also included visiting the Kazan Kremlin and Sviazhsk island.
