NGOs suggest that G8 countries call year 2007 a year of the Civil Education


IA REGNUM reports that the International Forum of the nongovernmental organizations “CivilG8-2006” has finished its work.

The recommendation projects, prepared by the working groups were read out at the end of the plenary meeting.

The working group on infectious disease problems suggested the assignation of finances for the infectious disease preventive measures, as well as for the scientific research in this field. Other suggestions concerned increase in the investments into medicine production and diagnostics supplies for such diseases as tuberculosis, HIV and others. Besides that the working group thinks it necessary that the national and international systems integrate into the world infectious disease monitoring system. The activity of this system should transparent fro the civil society.

According to the recommendations by the education working group, G8 countries have to advance civil education and provide for the citizens participation in the education management. SO the participants appealed to the G8 with the request to announce year 2007 – the year of the Civil Education.

Members of the working group on the human security, terrorism counteractions and mass annihilation weapons control problems, insisted in their recommendations on that the questions on the human security will be part of the G8 agenda during German presidency in 2007. The recommendations also point out that human rights cannot be violated in the realization of the anti terrorism actions. The working groups members asked the G8 leaders to develop more effective measures to support the regime of the mass annihilation weapons and splitting materials non-proliferation and to work out clear criteria on the humanitarian intervention and deny double standards in the sphere.
