G8 justice, interior ministers, prosecutors to meet in Germany

MOSCOW, June 19 (Itar-Tass) —— The next meeting of the ministers of justice, interior ministers and prosecutors-general of the member countries of Group Eight will be held in May 2007 in Germany, to which Russia will pass over its rotating presidency, Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev told President Vladimir Putin here on Monday.
According to his information, the ministers and prosecutors-general discussed in Russia, in the first place, the problems connected with the war on terrorism, transnational organised crime, drug trafficking and trade in humans. “We mentioned as well the problem of the recruitment of young people in terrorist organisation, and pointed to the fact that terrorists were showing interest in biotechnologies,” Nurgaliyev continued. He said the ministers had adopted a joint statement and nine documents, including Russia’s proposal on the protection of railways and underground networks. “On the whole, the meeting was held in a constructive and friendly atmosphere,” Nurgaliyev added.
