The Educational Policy in Russia: Problems and Perspectives

According to many experts dealing with the education issues one of the reasons of the high education crisis is too narrow-specific mentality of specialists. And as the result we can witness the situation when students are being taught to solve very specific and complicated problems not taking into account their social or ecological consequences.

The Americanization of our society today can lead to the deep crisis in science and culture. Today we witness the wide development of a bureaucracy and administration bodies killing the culture, art and science in general.

One more reason for such situation is the commercialization of the education in Russia. The students as a specific group needs badly state programs and can't survive without it. So the wide commercialization of education system will inevitably reduce this important social group.

The University is initially not only the sum of several faculties, it is an universe, giving all the members of its great family the possibility and chance to become not only a historian, physician or chemistry expert - but to be someone with universal knowledge. The University not only gives knowledge, it helps to form a person. And it is obvious today that it's time to transfer from a reproducing education to the model of a developing education.

That's why no one state wants to deprive the students as an important social group of state programs of financing and support. But in Russia we really can witness the process of reducing this social group.

The tendency can be considered as really dangerous, because can reproduce a step to so called underground culture, pop music, narcotics, prostitution etc. And it is the urgent problem - to transfer from the reproducing model of education to the actively developing model. It could really provide the real education and the development of creative individuals in Russia.
