It was reported to journalists by Ella Pamfilova, the coordinator of the “Civil G8-2006” project. There is already a special web-site and the Consulting Counsel is being formed.

The representatives of the NGOs in different countries are working out their suggestions on the mane questions of this year G8 Summit, Ella Pamfilova reports.

Consultations with NGOs are traditionally held during preparation to the G8 leaders’ meetings in order to clarify civil society opinion on the key questions. This very aim was set by the Russian public organizations when creating the “CivilG8-2006” project in June of 2005. The coordinator of the project is Ella Pamfilova. Within the frameworks of the project the participating organizations will be able to develop some mutual recommendations to be submitted for consideration to the G8 leaders.

Organizers of the project intend to set contacts with all of the organizations and departments responsible for the Summit preparation. According to Pamfilova, Russian Sherp himself, Igor Shuvalov, is ready to meet with them, under the condition that the organizers will be ready to present the list of their recommendations on three major topics – energy security, education and health - in March.

Pamfilova sees the activity of the “Civil G8” as an opportunity to open ways of cooperation between foreign and Russian NGOs, as the latter do not have a large experience in the international relationships.
