G8 sherpas meet in Moscow to discuss July summit
MOSCOW, May 18 (RIA Novosti) - Representatives from the Group of Eight industrialized nations are meeting in Moscow to focus on procedural issues and the agenda of the G8 summit in St. Petersburg on July 15-17, the organizing committee said Thursday.
The coordinators, or sherpas, will also meet with representatives of Russian and foreign non-governmental organizations attending the Civil G8, consultations aiming to clarify the position of civil society on priority issues determined by the presiding country.
Global energy security, infectious diseases and education are the priorities under Russia's presidency in 2006.
