G8 education ministers praise teachers in Moscow talks statement


MOSCOW, June 2 (RIA Novosti) - Education ministers from the Group of Eight leading industrialized nations issued a joint statement Friday following a two-day meeting in Moscow, Russia's education and science minister said.

Andrei Fursenko said the declaration "highlighted the role of teachers and their training, as well as teachers' status in the world."

G8 ministers focused on the development of education to boost the innovation economy, high quality and overall availability of education, eliminating illiteracy worldwide, social and cultural adaptation of migrants, education standards and other issues.
