NGOs final conference “Delivering the 2006 G8 agenda”. Announcement


On December 2, 2006 within the “Civil G8-2006” project there will be held the NGOs final conference “Delivering the 2006 G8 agenda”(Moscow). The meeting will be organized as an enlarged session of Advisory Council of the “Civil G8-2006” project. It will be attended also by reputable NGO leaders, who have made the most valuable contribution to the “Civil G8-2006” this year. The number of participants is expected to be around 80.

The aims of the conference are as follows:

· monitoring implementation of commitments made at the previous G8 summits;

· summing up the results of the 2006 G8 Stakeholder Consultation process;

· “passing on the baton” to NGOs of Germany, which holds the G8 presidency in 2007.

It is expected that in the afternoon the conference will be attended by Russian and German Sherpas. The aim of the meeting is to present by NGOs their suggestions to Sherpas on how to develop cooperation between the G8 and civil society in 2007.
