NGO will discuss the realization of the last G8 summits decisions


MOSCOW, December 2 – RIA-Novosti

The final international NGO conference “Realization of the 2006 G8 summit decisions” within the framework of the “Civil G8 – 2006” project will take place in Moscow this Saturday.

More than 80 international and Russian NGOs which played most active role in the preparation of the Civil G8 process will participate at the conference.

According to organizers of the conference, the main aims of the conference are as follows: the monitoring of the last summits decisions realization, the results of NGOs consultations within the period of the St Petersburg summit preparation, and also the non-formal “handing baton” from Russia to Germany, which will be presiding the G8 summit in 2007.

The conference participants will meet Russian and German Sherpas. During the meeting the NGOs will present their propositions about the development of the cooperation with G8 leaders in 2007.

The international Forum of NGOs “Civil G8 – 2006” was held in Moscow this July on the eve of the G8 summit in St Petersburg. More than 700 NGO from 50 countries all over the world participated in the Forum.
