Russia to welcome religious leaders ahead of G8 summit - Lavrov

Russia will host a world meeting of religious leaders in summer ahead of the G8 summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has announced.

"We have many tasks in the framework of preparing for the G8 summit. We are planning many events, culminating in the international summit of religious organizations in Russia ahead of the G8 top-level meeting," he said at a Sunday news conference in Moscow following a meeting with members of the Council of Muftis of Russia.
